SHINJI BACKED

Danny Welbeck has said that Shinji Kagawa was the main reason why Manchester United managed to end their losing streak last weekend.

The Red Devils got better of Swansea City on Saturday to secure their 11th league win of the season. They had lost 3 matches on the trot before that game and had been receiving a lot of criticism, but, they came up with an inspired performance and won by a profound margin to stay in the hunt for the league title.

The first half of the game between United and Swansea had gone goalless and it seemed as if the Red Devils would have to end up without 3 points yet again, but, during the break, David Moyes made a call. He decided that in the second half, he would change the position of Kagawa and would use him as a central midfielder. That move proved to be a masterstroke as the 24 years old player turned the game in United’s favour by setting up the first goal in the 47th minute.

Welbeck who himself also made a significant contribution for the Premier League defending champions in that game against Swansea City by scoring the second goal was full of praise for his Japanese teammate while talking to the reporters a couple of days back.

The English forward said, “I think Shinji deserves to be credited the most. He was far more comfortable playing in the midfield and he turned the heat on after the half time break.”

Welbeck perhaps would have played on the wings in most of the games this season if two of the United’s superstars (RVP and Wayne Rooney) had been fit, but, because of their injuries, he has got opportunities to play right up front and he has grabbed those opportunities big time. He has scored 8 goals in 15 matches in the ongoing season so far.
